In 3 steps to the optimal seating position

More riding fun and a longer range – we offer tips on how to find the optimal riding position and ride e-bikes efficiently. Get the most out of your new e-bike and experience the pure joy of riding.

SITTING CORRECTLY ON THE E-BIKE

The basis for an optimal riding position is always an e-bike of the right size. With e-bikes in frame sizes XS to XXXL, ADO or Himo E-Bike makes it as easy as possible. Expert advice on the right frame size is available from ADO / Himo dealer including an extensive test drive.

3 STEPS TO THE OPTIMAL SEATING POSITION

The correct seating position not only increases the fun factor of e-biking, but also improves power transmission and enables more efficient riding.

STEP 1: ADJUST THE SADDLE

To determine the correct saddle height, place your leg on the pedal with your knee almost fully extended, positioned vertically at the 6 o'clock position. Let the other leg simply hang. While stationary, have a helper hold the e-bike. If your pelvis tilts to the side or you slide around on the saddle while riding, the saddle is usually set too high. If you lose contact with the saddle or it lifts you out of the saddle while riding, the saddle height is too low.

To prevent discomfort and ensure a truly ergonomic ride, the saddle position should also be checked and adjusted as needed. With the pedals in a horizontal position (3 o'clock), the point below the kneecap should be above the pedal axle. This can be precisely determined using a plumb line made from a piece of string and a weight. If this isn't the case, the saddle can be moved slightly forward or backward as needed.

STEP 2: ADJUST HANDLEBAR POSITION

Riders who prefer a sporty riding position usually choose a lower handlebar position. However, for long rides, if you experience hand and neck pain, or general sitting discomfort, a more comfortable handlebar position is recommended. This is achieved by raising the handlebars slightly, creating a more upright and relaxed seating position. This often simultaneously improves control and riding safety.

STEP 3: MORE ERGONOMICS FOR MAXIMUM COMFORT

With the help of the first two steps, you can find a suitable seating position relatively quickly. However, sitting on an e-bike is always very individual and depends on many factors. You can always play around with the saddle and handlebar position to find the truly optimal seating position. If discomfort persists, ergonomic components such as grips, handlebars, and saddle can be very helpful. For the best possible riding experience and unadulterated riding pleasure, many ADO / Himo e-bikes are already equipped with appropriate components.

We hope our tips are useful for you and wish you lots of fun with your new e-bike!
